Easy-to-use package to set up a web shop

Many start-ups and growth companies are interested in exploring the possibilities offered by e-commerce, including the setting up of a web shop. However, they may not be familiar with the legal consequences this entails, such as amended terms and conditions, a privacy policy, etc.

That's where we come in. NautaDutilh has developed a basic package consisting of three standard documents, a handy checklist and a few hours of legal advice in order to ensure that your web shop is fully compliant.

Setting up a B2C web shop

Standard documents

1. Terms and conditions

The applicable legislation on distance selling provides that consumers must be provided with certain information before placing an order via a web shop. In particular, they must be provided with information regarding their right to cancel the order, the payment and delivery terms, the statutory guarantee of conformity of the goods, etc. In order to comply with this information obligation, every web shop should have appropriate terms and conditions.

2. Privacy policy + 3. Cookie policy

As the running of a web shop requires the processing of personal data and the use of cookies, every web shop should develop a privacy policy and a cookie policy and make them available on its website. To give you a head start, the Privacy & Cookie Policy can be downloaded here.

Establishment of a website and the online order process

The applicable legislation provides that websites hosting a web shop and the online order process must meet certain requirements. Guidance on how to comply with these requirements can be found in our checklist.
